Chip Scanning

SOMA Microchip Scanners

with All Paws In

Microchips are one of the most reliable tools for reuniting lost pets, but communities typically rely on local veterinarians when a chip scan is needed. Scheduling issues aside, this also assumes the ability to safely transport the animal to a veterinary office.

We’re partnering with All Paws In to create a community-wide network of trained volunteers who have a scanner, can be alerted when a chip scan is needed, and will respond if available.

Curious how microchips work and what info they carry? (It’s probably less than you think.) Check out this FAQ from the American Veterinary Association.

Chip Scanner

Interested in being a community volunteer with a scanner?

Scanning for a microchip is easy, and our scanner packs will include step-by-step instructions. Volunteering has no set hours, instead you may be texted and/or tagged on Facebook when there's a need, with the goal that one of us on the team is free to help.

We're aiming for a broad range of geographic coverage, and we know pets don't read maps so if you're SOMA adjacent that's great too! Let us know who you are and where you live and we'll follow up on opportunities once we know how many scanners we can deploy!
