SOMA Kindness: It’s almost baby bird season, and that means the The Raptor trust in Millington (about 25 min from SOMA) needs lots of volunteers. You must be 18+ and commit to 4 hours per week for 10 weeks, and the opportunities are wide ranging! If you love the animal side, volunteers care for songbirds, waterfowl, gulls, and pigeons (not raptors); help is also needed in the gift shop and reception, as well as with essential tasks like laundry and maintenance. https://www.theraptortrust.org/volunteer

SOMA Kindness: Cougar Cares presents weekly dinner deliveries! This is an amazing project that’s one of the best kept secrets in the area. Why? Because the recipients are SOMSD families served confidentially, and the business supporting the families prefers to do so privately. Volunteers pick up dinners in Maplewood village Tuesdays at 3:30 and deliver to SOMA homes. Deliveries are typically complete within the hour, but your car may smell delicious for longer. Because this includes SOMDS students, no one under 18 may participate (even as a passenger). https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0C44A8A928A3FBC70-tuesday#/
SOMA Kindness: The East Orange Animal Shelter is looking for volunteer dog walkers to ensure that they can get pups out on walk days, which are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, from 10am – 1pm (though we are typically done by 12/12:30.) It is NOT necessary to commit to all 3 days. The goal is to have a roster of walkers so they can do a rotation. Dog walking experience required, preferably with strong dogs (think pittie mixes). Must be 18+ and we will ask you to sign a waiver. Please email info@eoanimalalliance.com if you can help, or if you have any questions!
